Fundraising Letter
June 6, 2007
Dear Green Friend:
The Green Party of the United States is the fastest growing party in the nation. We have 226 elected officials throughout the country. We’re knocking at the door of national politics, and knocking loudly, but the Republican and Democratic Parties don’t want to let us in. Why? Because we threaten the status quo - we threaten their monopoly on the national agenda.
In February of this year, the Federal Election Commission granted National Party Committee status to the Green Senatorial Campaign Committee (GSCC). We are the first “3
rd party” to achieve this status. With the attainment of this important milestone, we are better able to support Green U.S. Senate candidates, and coordinate federal Senate campaigns in ways not previously available to Greens. But, we need your help. In the 2006 campaign, we were able to make small but significant contributions to Green U.S. Senate candidates during the critical weeks just before Election Day. In many cases it was just the support they needed to fund their get-out-the-vote efforts and last media purchases.
In the 2007-08 election cycle, we hope to do even more to assist with ballot access drives, voter registration, get-out-the-vote efforts, and more in our quest to send a Green to the U.S. Capital.
You know that the Green Party stands alone as the Party of Peace and Non-Violence, of Environmental Wisdom, of Social and Economic Justice. GSCC policy priorities include: bringing the troops home now, repeal of the Patriot Act, full compliance of the Kyoto Treaty, ending the “War on Drugs”, reproductive justice, marriage equality, single-payer healthcare, and ending “fastrack” authority for trade agreements (see
www.GreenSCC.org for details). Help us make these courageous stands part of the national conversation and, ultimately, national policy. The GSCC has no paid staff and is run completely by dedicated volunteers from around the country. We don’t take corporate or PAC money. We depend on the contributions of ordinary citizens with extraordinary vision. Please help support the efforts to elect Greens to the US Senate by making a contribution today.
In Peace and Solidarity,
Teresa Keane
Chair, GSCC
